OKAY.
In three days, I'm hosting at least 25 of my in laws for Christmas eve and my son and his wife are coming up from Texas. I have cooking and cleaning and shopping and wrapping to do so naturally I decided that what I really want to do is replace all the wooden bird houses hanging from the trees in my back yard.
That's not crazy, is it?
Actually, the only presents left are the ones for the party on Saturday and if I don't have time to buy anything new, I can just wrap up some crap lying around the house. That's the beauty of our Christmas eve; no pressure.
I've been wrapping as I go this year so I don't have to pull a back breaking wrapathon on Friday. As for cookies, whatever's left in the back fridge on Saturday will just have to do. I've baked about seven hundred cookies since Thanksgiving. I've eaten about three hundred but who's counting?
I still have two things that I'm making that I have to get at. Nothing like leaving it till the last second. I work better under pressure.
There were a couple of things I'd hoped to get finished before Christmas, like the chair I did a needlepoint seat cover for two years ago. I'd hoped to get that reupholstered by now but I keep running out of money so it's no deal. No biggie; I'm not going to sweat it.
As for the bird houses, all the ones we had hanging from our trees have fallen apart. I like the way they look so I bought a bunch more from Michael's and I'm painting them up between orders so it doesn't seem like I'm spending that much time on them. I've already finished and hung half of them in the back. They look good.
Josie and I watched A Christmas Story last night. That movie is perfect.
I've also watched Scrooged and Holiday Inn this week. Maybe I'll watch White Christmas tonight but I have to be finished before American Horror Story starts so that's only a maybe.
