Economic Reality

This is something every man woman and child in the country needs to understand. http://www.youtube.com/watch_popup?v=JY8LKII_MNA&feature=youtube_gdata_player
The brilliant Bill Whittle gives a nice, easy to understand graphic description of why soaking the rich will not solve our government spending problem.
Here is the stark reality of what government spending has done to us; 1. U.S. tax revenue; $2,170,000,000,000.00
2. U.S. federal budget; $3,820,000,000,000.00
3. New debt this year; $1,650,000,000,000.00
4. National debt; $14, 271,000,000,000.00
5. Recent spending cuts; $38,500,000,000.00
Those are huge numbers, impossible to wrap your brain around, so let's take away 8 zeros and pretend it's a household budget.
1. Family income; $21,700.00
2. Family budget; $38, 200.00
3. New debt on the credit card this year; $16, 500.00
4. Outstanding balance on the credit card; $142, 710.00
5. Recent cuts in spending; $385.00
Can you honestly say that this is not the road to ruin?
And all you union members who actually think the status quo is good for you; you are all fighting for state rooms aboard the titanic. Actually, you're worse; we've sighted the ice berg, there's still time to miss it and you're storming the bridge, intent on forcing the ship to stay on course, having already shot holes in all the life boats, thinking you'll still have third class passengers to wait on you in your nice state rooms when the ship settles on the bottom of the ocean.
I don't think it's going to work out.
